Presidential Inauguration Week Events: October 20th – 26th, 2008

Events scheduled to celebrate the inauguration of Coppin State University’s 5th president, Reginald S. Avery. The events focus on the areas of teaching, creativity, students, and alumni.

Monday, October 20th, 2008

8:00 a.m., Dining and Meeting Hall
Breakfast with the President

10:00 a.m., Dining and Meeting Hall Quad Area
Inaugural Kickoff
The students of Coppin State University will kickoff the celebration, with a Welcome Dr. Avery Day

6:00 p.m., Gallery, James Weldon Johnson Auditorium
“I Was, I Am, I Will Be”
An exhibition of narrative collages by professional artist Carol White. These colorful and celebratory works of art utilize a “paper quilt” technique that combines hand-made papers and hand stitching.

• Opening reception will feature testimonies from the artist and participants in the workshop. Will include live music and light buffet.
• The artist will conduct a collage workshop with CSU Urban Arts students, Coppin Academy students and Rosemont Academy students. This workshop will culminate in the creation of a paper quilt that celebrates CSU’s commitment to nurturing potential and transforming lives. Their work will be featured in the Percy Julian Gallery.
